The program is limited to eight students and is by special education trained religious teacher  as well as by specialists in speech, art and music therapy. There are three teachers in the classroom at a given time.

The program was conceived and is directed by Linda Lieff Altabef, a highly regarded artist and art teacher who has spent the

past three years identifying both the need and solution for a growing situation.

  • LEV is intended to help those children who should be starting their religious education, but who would struggle and not thrive in a traditional classroom. Above all, we want these children to be excited by their Jewish-ness and to view their introduction to formal Jewish education as an immensely positive experience.
